Protect the health of our most precious asset — our kids

As matter of principle and plain-old common sense, Chris Turner will fight to restore the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) in Texas.  Because of the short-sighted and mean-spirited actions of the Legislature, Texas has 150,000 fewer kids insured by CHIP today than 5 years ago.  This is a disgrace for the state that has the highest percentage of uninsured children in the nation.  Texas has also lost nearly $1 billion in federal CHIP funds — our tax money that has instead been sent to New York, California and other states.
