It’s Not a Game, Governor
Perry says: “I think we’re at a unique time that we can reset the budgeting game in Texas.” The budget is a moral document that demonstrates the fiscal responsibility, compassion and strategic thinking of those in government – or the lack thereof. The budget is not a game.
Total Certainty
I know with total certainty that the working families of Arlington and Grand Prairie in District 101 deserve strong and true Democratic representation in Austin. With your contribution today of $100, $75, $50, $25, or $10 today, we can do this.
Safe Communities
As state representative, Chris tightened registration requirements to make sure sex offenders living in our neighborhoods can be tracked. Some offenders claim to be homeless in order to evade registration requirements butChris’s law requires them to register with their local law enforcement agency every two weeks. Deeply moved by the tragic case of Abdallah Khader, a 2-year old Arlington boy who was critically injured by a drunk driver and is in a permanent vegetative state, Chris authored legislation that eventually became known as “Abdallah’s Law.”
Heating Up!
This campaign is heating up fast! I need your help to raise $10,000 before our next fundraising deadline on April 19th.
Arlington Professional Fire Fighters Local 1329 Endorses Chris Turner
Major endorsement adds momentum to Turner campaign
APFF Local 1329 President, David Crow: After looking closely at all the candidates in the race, we are endorsing Chris because he has a proven record of fighting for first responders and their families and is committed to making our communities safer. …
A call for justice
Chris at TCC Southeast Campus rally for education and awareness about the Trayvon Martin case: ”We have so much to learn from one another, understanding our different backgrounds, life experiences, and culture helps us all become better people. We can respect, appreciate and celebrate our differences, but we don’t have to fixate on them. We don’t have to fear them. And we don’t have to let them divide us.”
Join Us for a Grand Opening and Bring the Family for Lunch
Kick off the 2012 election season by visiting with fellow Democrats and learning more about our campaign. And feel free to bring the entire family – the event is free and lunch will be provided.
Building a Just and Fair Society
Turner: “The NAACP has been on the forefront of the battle for fairness and opportunity for all Americans for 103 years. It continues its important mission today, and I am proud to support its efforts.”
Lines Crossed
The recent cuts to women’s health care has eviscerated what were already flimsy health care options for underserved women and their families, making it increasingly difficult to access the care they need. These devastating funding cuts will have a real and visible impact on working families in Arlington and Grand Prairie. I will fight to restore funding for these important services.
A Wall of Honor and an Opportunity
Chris attended the Tarrant County College District’s official unveiling of its Veterans’ Wall of Honor on February 20, 2012. Honoring the service and sacrifice of today’s veterans both in word and in deed will continue to be one of Chris’s top priorities.
“Put the jam on the bottom shelf.”
Art Brender: Chris often heard me quote former U.S. Senator Ralph Yarborough’s sage advice to “put the jam on the lower shelf so the little people can reach it.” Chris is a leader who will put the jam on the lower shelf for public school students who don’t have a voice, for the disenfranchised voter, for women who don’t have access to basic health care and for struggling middle-class families.
Let’s Talk
This week, my campaign sent letters to several community groups and neighborhood associations, suggesting they consider hosting a candidate forum for the state representative race in the new, Democratic open seat in Arlington and Grand Prairie. With so many difficult issues facing our state, voters deserve to hear directly from the candidates and ask us the tough questions.
