First Bills and Texas 101 Day 2015

It’s hard to believe, but the 84th Legislative Session is right around the corner. In about five weeks, I will head back to the Capitol to be sworn in for my third term. It’s an incredible honor to have the continued trust of my neighbors in House District 101 and to be their voice on the issues that matter in our community – improving our public schools, increasing access to healthcare and creating better paying jobs for our community.

Success during a legislative session is definitely a team effort, which includes help from staff, my colleagues, and of course, the Texans I represent. I look forward to working with you as we gear up for session. If we can help with a state matter or you have a bill idea, just let me know. You can email me at any time at chris.turner@house.state.tx.us.

Thanks for your support and continued friendship. I look forward to hearing from you.

Chris

First Bills Filed
On Monday, I filed my first five bills of the 84th Legislative Session. They target a wide-range of issues, including instituting a ban on “double dipping”, ensuring bars carry liability insurance, providing additional aid to veterans in need, cracking down on unsolicited cold calls by high-interest lenders, and protecting Texans from discrimination based on sexual orientation. Open Enrollment on the Healthcare Marketplace
As you may know, the Healthcare Marketplace is open for enrollment through February 15. Of course, individuals who enrolled in plans through the exchange last year will automatically have their plans renewed, or they can switch to a new plan if they prefer. More information is available here.

If you need additional help sorting through the plans and options, contact my office at 817-459-2800 and we will connect you with someone who can help.
